Peita's Polish Shipwrecked

You've heard me mention Peita's Polish when talking about my monthly crack *ahem* polish delivery boxes (us polish ladies know the truth!) from Australia. If you haven't checked out the What's In-die Box? then you are missing out.

In addition to the WIB, I've been collecting polishes from Peita's line as well. She makes some great glitters for layering or being worn alone. This one intrigued me for a while on the site so I finally bought it.

Shipwrecked is a a clear base with larger copper hexes and TONS of turquoise and silver microglitters. When I say a ton, I mean this baby can blind you when it catches the sun! I chose to layer this thinly over OPI Ski Teal We Drop to make the copper glitter stand out.

The formula was good though a you will need to do some dabbing to ensure the large glitter goes where you want it to. It dried quickly but it will definitely need a top coat to smooth everything out as the glitters were a bit gritty once everything was dry.

One thin coat of Shipwrecked over OPI Ski Teal We Drop in indirect sun

Close up: You can see some of the glitter texture peeking through but a second coat or a heavier first coat of top coat will do the trick. I was using my Poshe which applies pretty thinly.

Pretty Bitch Polish- I'm Bitchy and I Know It

Oh hey, another Pretty Bitch Polish mani :) Jaclyn has made one of my perfect polishes here! She worked with a client to create their perfect royal purple holo and it is so pretty.

I'm Bitchy and I Know It is a deep royal purple holo with a slight pink shimmer to it in certain lights. This is two coats, though you could completely get away with one coat. This is categorized in her superholo one coater category since it is so easily opaque :) I topped it with Poshe topcoat and an accent nail of Powder Perfect She's Gone Orna-mental. The formula is perfect as usual and is the right consistency to self-level and give you great control. It also wears like iron for me like the rest of her polishes!

You can see that pink shimmer here :)

You can find Pretty Bitch Polish on Big Cartel and on Facebook

There will be a restock on Feb. 3 with some new colors and an LE so keep an eye out!

Mentality Polish Orgasmic

Mentality Polish is a prolific indie that doesn't get enough love. Their store is ALWAYS stocked and they have every color imaginable in creams and mattes. I have a few from their collection and I love them. It doesn't hurt that their shipping is insanely fast too :)

Orgasmic is a silvery based cornflower blue superholo with pink and blue glass flecks embedded. The pink flecks give it a nice warm pink shimmer when you aren't in the direct sun. The added glass flecks don't affect the texture at all either. It dries nice and smooth in just two quick coats. It is a self-leveling formula that isn't goopy or too thin. Here it is topped with one coat of Poshe for some extra shine.

Enchanted Polish To Die For and Dime Piece

This mani popped up just before Christmas, but I forgot that I owned it! I did this while on vacation in the mountains and it was so shimmery and wonderful in front of the fire :)

The silvery base color is Enchanted Polish Dime Piece and the glitter accent nails are 1 coat of Enchanted Polish To Die For over top. These two babies are from past Enchanted Polish collections. Dime Piece was released in the later half of 2013- shame on me not remembering when and To Die For was a limited edition Halloween polish.

This is two coats of Dime Piece on each nail and one coat of To Die for. Dime Piece was pretty thin upon application, but it still was opaque in two coats. I think the thin formula helps the holo flare so much. It is a super linear holo that looks like a chromatic silver when not in the direct sunlight. I topped it as usual with a coat of Poshe topcoat.

To Die For is a navy blue holographic glitter topper. It has a super holo range to it when exposed to the sunlight and appears a deep navy when not in direct sunlight.

While I haven't seen Dime Piece up for restock on Chelsea's site, MeiMei's Signatures, a Singapore based distributor has revealed she will stock Dime Piece soon.

Lilypad Lacquer Tempting Toffee and Rusty Shine

As usual, Nicole at Lilypad Lacquer has been churning out colors like crazy! She had a huge restock at the end of December and I went a bit nuts. You will be seeing plenty of them crop up.

These two beauties today are Tempting Toffee and Rusty Shine. When I first put Tempting Toffee on, I waffled so much about whether I liked the color or not. Browns are out of my usual comfort zone, and this is a very warm rusty red-tinted brown. A few people said it immediately made them crave caramels :)

I topped my ring finger and pinky with the complementary Rusty Shine from Nicole's newest line. This line is made of super fine metallic particles. They are not glitter, but they also aren't a solid pigment. As result, you get a metallic finish without the rough texture of a glitter. I'm loving them!

Both of these applied super smoothly and offered a lot of control so there was no pooling in my cuticles or a lot of clean up needed. Rusty Shine does blend a bit with TT, but in real life it added some extra oomph to the mani overall. I used two coats of Tempting Toffee and one coat of Rusty Shine. I topped it all off with a quick coat of Poshe topcoat.

You can find Lilypad Lacquer on Nicole's Facebook page and her Etsy shop.

Bed of Roses- Toya Jade

Toya Jade is an Australian maker who I found through my Australian What's In-die polish subscription box. Bed of Roses was part of their November box which was Rock N Roll themed! This is a sheer red jelly with red, orange, black, and brown glitters embedded.

I didn't know how to I felt about it on it's own in other swatches I saw so I figured I would try to pair it with something. Since it's fall, I picked a deep brown. This brown is Zoya Louise which is great for fall and winter.

Bed of Roses went on smoothly with no clumping or dragging. Each brush was fully loaded and it did not require me to "dab" the glitter where I wanted it. It did have some heart glitters which I never got and some bar glitters which I avoided on purpose.

Louise went on opaque in just two coats and was a perfect formula. Zoya's tend to be great cremes that self level and go on streakless!

Two coats of Zoya Louise with a coat of Toya Jade Bed of Roses. All topped with one coat of Poshe in the direct sun!

Back in the States!

Hi all! I am finally back from Cuba. We had some crazy things happen like a car accident, a hotel flooding, the restaurant catching on fire, and lots of illness- but overall it was an amazing time. It took me two days to get home due to travel delays from the storms but I made it!

Right now I'm recovering from being extremely sick the last few days, but I'll get this updated as soon as possible.

Here is a quick collage our trip leader at Photo Quest adventures put together of us all:

Aly's Dream Polish-Salmon

Here, I have another Aly's Dream Polish. This is #03 Salmon. Salmon is a gorgeous cross between a pale coral and a light pink. The lighting here made the polish super saturated, but it is a notch less saturated the pictured.

I used three thin coats on this polish with no topcoat or undies. True to all of Aly's polish, this has a strong scattered holo indoors and out. I've found that her polishes separate pigment if left to sit, but a few strong shakes fixes the problem and the polish sees no issues. I wish these were more opaque as I don't usually have the patience to sit through three coats, but they are pretty nonetheless.

You can find Aly's Dream Polish on Facebook or at her Storenvy store.
